Light rain and thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, are expected in isolated areas throughout many Odisha districts during the next three days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday.
According to the IMD’s midday meteorological advisory, an upper air cyclonic circulation remains over Odisha and its surroundings, reaching up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. Furthermore, a trough from the system extends throughout Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh to northwest Uttar Pradesh, while another trough goes from Odisha to coastal Karnataka, passing through Telangana and the interior.
Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are likely to occur at one or two places in districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kandhamal, Bargarh and Sonepur, while the remaining districts may witness mainly dry weather.

For March 10, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph at isolated places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak districts.
The IMD has advised people to remain alert and take precautions during thunderstorm and lightning activity.
