The Monsoon Session of India’s Parliament witnessed a significant discussion in the Lok Sabha today, as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh detailed the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’—India’s recent military response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Initiating the debate, Rajnath Singh described Operation Sindoor as a decisive, well-coordinated strike on nine terrorist infrastructure targets across the border. He emphasized that the operation demonstrated India’s clear stance against terrorism and its ability to deliver precision military action.“Over 100 terrorists, including trainers and handlers, were eliminated. Most were affiliated with Pakistan-backed groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen,” Singh stated.
The Defence Minister underlined that the tri-services synergy of the Army, Navy, and Air Force was pivotal in executing the operation. The strikes, including a significant air raid on May 10, forced Pakistan to seek a ceasefire, which India accepted only after achieving its political and strategic goals.
Refuting speculation, Singh categorically denied that external pressure influenced India’s decision to halt the operation.“The idea that we stopped due to any outside force is factually incorrect. We stopped because our objectives were met,” he asserted.
He clarified that the operation was never intended to escalate into full-scale war, but rather to compel surrender through a demonstrative use of force. Singh reiterated India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism, warning that if Pakistan attempts another misadventure, the operation will be resumed immediately.
