The Ram Setu teaser, starring Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez, has just been released. Akshay Kumar plays an archaeologist on a desperate mission to save the mythical Ram Setu in the new video. As he dives underwater, he wears a suit that is uncannily similar to a spacesuit. The plot remains a mystery, but we do know that Akshay has only three days to save the Ram Setu, which appears to refer to the mythical bridge built by the Vanar Sena in Ramayana. Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Satyadev Kancharan appear briefly.
Akshay is seen running through forests and sliding down muddy paths while battling explosions and bullets in the tense teaser.
Ram Sethu is a group of limestone shoals located between Rameswaram Island off the south-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu and Mannar Island off the northwestern coast of Sri Lanka. Rama built the bridge when he arrived in Lanka to rescue Sita from Raavana, according to the Ramayana. Akshay had previously described the film as a “bridge between generations past, present, and future.” The film was announced on Diwali 2020 with a poster depicting Akshay standing in front of an image of Lord Ram. “Myth or reality?” read the poster’s caption. We also get a glimpse of the underwater bridge in the teaser.
