On Saturday, the Trinity made their way to the Adapa Mandap, the deities’ birth altar, in the Gundicha temple on the second day of their annual pilgrimage.
The sloping staircases made of palm planks were attached to the chariots in the morning, according to the ritual. Following that, the Mudirasta (the Gajapati king’s official representative) paid a ceremonial visit to the three deities and offered flowers. The deities were later adorned with Tahias (headgear made of bamboo and flowers).
Following that, in the evening, the pahandi bije (carrying deities in a swaying procession) ritual was performed.
Thousands of devotees flocked to witness Lord Jagannath and his siblings’ Adapa Bije ritual this evening.
For the next seven days, the deities will remain at Gundicha temple.
