Prime Minister Narendra Modi received high praise on Friday from leaders of different religious organizations and spiritual leaders for his decision to start an 11-day special religious fast before the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.
Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan Ashram said that Modi’s call has generated “all-round enthusiasm” and urged people to dedicate themselves to the national cause.
“We are lucky to have a prime minister like him. The temple is coming up after 500 years of struggle and sacrifices,” said Saraswati in a message.
According to Swami Avdheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara, Modi’s declaration demonstrates that he is not only an exceptional administrator but also an unmatched worshipper. He also mentioned that various religious organizations and seers have started various rituals and programmes in the lead-up to the temple consecration ceremony on January 22.
“Everyone should follow some religious exercise. The ‘pran pratishtha’ is for global brotherhood, harmony and happiness and that is why the prime minister has also begun the special religious exercise,” he said.
Spiritual guru Sri M praised Modi’s decision in a statement, saying that “every Indian should undertake some religious exercise in the spirit of mankind’s happiness.”
Religious leaders also held a “havan” in Haridwar, where they prayed for Modi’s resolve to succeed.
Additionally, Shikhand Das Maharaj of Saryu Maha Arti offered prayers for Modi’s 11-day exercise and stated that the building of a “rashtra mandir” is also certain to occur under the Prime Minister’s watch.
“May Lord Ram fulfill Modi’s wishes for the country,” he said in a statement.
Swami Dipankar Maharaj of Deoband said that the blessings of all saints are with the Prime Minister in his resolve.

He also said that it was a sacred occasion for all Indians and Lord Ram’s devotees, and that “everyone is waiting for the historic moment on January 22 when the idol of Ram will be consecrated at what is believed by his followers as his birthplace”.
