Russia Live Updates on the Ukraine War Crisis: Officials said two Russian missiles slammed into a crowded shopping center in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk on Monday, killing at least 18 people and injuring 59. This comes as Moscow battles for control of a key eastern city, and Western leaders have promised to back Kyiv in the conflict “for as long as it takes.”
When two Russian missiles slammed into the mall in Kremenchuk, southeast of Kyiv, more than 1,000 people were inside, Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram. According to Ukraine’s emergency services, at least 16 people were killed and 59 were injured. Rescuers combed through mangled metal and debris in search of survivors. Russia has not responded to the strike, which has been condemned by the United Nations and Ukraine’s Western allies.
Zelenskyy said the target presented “no threat to the Russian army” and had “no strategic value.” He accused of Russia of sabotaging “people’s attempts to live a normal life, which make the occupiers so angry.”
Meanwhile, shelling in other cities continued. Russian forces shelled Kharkiv’s central districts, hitting apartment buildings and a primary school, killing five people and injuring 22, according to the regional governor. Five children were among those injured, according to Kharkiv region governor Oleh Synehubov.
