As the Russia-Ukraine war enters its 83rd day, a series of explosions rocked the western Ukrainian city of Lviv. According to some reports, about ten blasts occurred in quick succession.
Ukraine’s military said it was working to evacuate all remaining troops from the besieged port of Mariupol, ceding control of the city to Russia after months of bombardment.
Ukraine said troops defending Kharkiv, its second-largest city, had repelled Russian forces and advanced to the Russian border. Russian attacks killed nine civilians in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region, according to the governor.
According to UN agencies, six million refugees have fled Ukraine since the conflict began on February 24, and another eight million have been internally displaced.
Russia describes its action as a special military operation to demilitarise Ukraine and eliminate “dangerous nationalists.” Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is accused of unprovoked aggression by the West and Kiev.
The Russian governor claims that a border village has drawn Ukrainian fire; no one has been injured
According to Reuters, a village in Russia’s western province of Kursk bordering Ukraine was hit by Ukrainian fire on Tuesday, but no one was hurt, despite the fact that three houses and a school were damaged.
Russian border guards returned fire to stop the shooting from large-calibre weapons in the border village of Alekseyevka, according to Starovoit, who posted on the messaging app Telegram.
Ukraine claims that Russia has destroyed over 1,000 schools
According to the Ukrainian government, Russia has shelled over 1,000 schools, destroying 95 of them, according to the news agency AFP. On May 8, a bomb demolished a school in Zaporizhzhia that was being used as a shelter, similar to School No. 21 in Chernihiv. Up to 60 people were feared dead.
Putin issues a NATO warning to Finland and Sweden

The United States may soon send more aid to Ukraine
The United States Senate voted to advance $40 billion in additional aid to Ukraine in its war against Russia, paving the way for a vote on the bill later this week.
