Ae Watan Mere Watan, an upcoming period drama film starring actress Sara Ali Khan, is scheduled to debut on Prime Video in March. The pre-Independence era movie, according to the OTT giant, will be available for streaming on the service starting on March 21. In addition, Sara will feature in the murder mystery movie Murder Mubarak, which is scheduled to debut on rival Netflix on March 15—just one week sooner.
A teaser featuring Sara’s character Usha calling on listeners to rebel against the British over covert radio was used to publicize the news. It is reported that Usha Mehta, a real-life independence warrior, served as inspiration for the film. Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada dubbing will be done for Kannan Iyer’s film Ae Watan Mere Watan. The movie is backed by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra’s Dharmatic Entertainment.
The film is co-written by Kannan and Darab Farooqui. Sara shared the teaser on her Instagram account, and wrote, “Desh ki kahaani, Usha ki zubaani World Radio Day par!#AeWatanMereWatanOnPrime, Mar 21 only on @primevideoin”.
