Sensex closes 143 points lower at 58,644, Nifty ends at 17,516

Domestic markets continued to slip on Friday. S&P BSE Sensex fell 143 points or 0.24% to close at 58,644 points while NSE Nifty 50 fell 43.9 points or 0.25% to end at 17,516.

Bank Nifty closed 0.57% lower and broader markets mirrored the weakness. India VIX fell 1.36%. Sun Pharma was the top Sensex gainer, up 1.09%, followed by Asian Paints, Tata Steel, and Ultratech Cement. State Bank of India, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Bajaj Auto were the other top laggards.
