BSE Sensex fell 85 points while Nifty 50 ended flat with a positive bias on Wednesday. The 30-share index ended at 51,849, while the broader Nifty 50 index ended at 15,576. IndusInd Bank, Power Grid Corporation of India, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Bajaj-Auto, Maruti Suzuki, SBI were among top index gainers. On the flip side, ITC was the worst performer, falling nearly 3 per cent. It was followed by Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Asian Paints, TCS, HCL Tech, Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC). The sectoral trend was largely positive, with Nifty PSU Bank index rising over 3 per cent. While Nifty IT and Nifty FMCG indices fell 0.75 per cent and 0.52 per cent, respectively.
