The strong cyclonic storm Dana has diminished into a depression over north Odisha, according to the most recent India Meteorological Department (IMD) report.
The IMD predicts that the system would move westward across north Odisha and progressively deteriorate into a well-defined low-pressure region over the next 12 hours. The Doppler weather radar at Paradip continues to actively watch the system.
“It is likely to move nearly westwards across north Odisha and weaken gradually into a well-marked low-pressure area during the next 12 hours”, read the weather bulletin.
Cyclone Dana caused significant heavy rainfall in Odisha. Rainfall is predicted to continue now that the cyclone has changed into a depression.
Cyclone Dana has caused rainfall in the twin towns of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack since Friday.
