Stock Market Highlights, today, Wednesday, September 10, 2025: The main Indian market indices closed higher on Wednesday, helped by a surge in IT and public sector bank companies. The BSE Sensex closed up 323.83 points, or 0.40 percent, at 81,425.15.
The NSE Nifty50 closed at 24,973.10, up 104.50 points, or 0.42 percent.
Bharat Electronics, HCL Tech, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, and Tata Consultancy Services were among the top Sensex gainers, climbing up to 4.50%. Meanwhile, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, UltraTech Cement, and Eternal were the biggest laggards, sliding up to 2.46 percent.
In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices closed with gains of 0.83 percent and 0.73 percent, respectively.
The Nifty IT and PSU Bank indices outpaced both the broader market and other sectoral indexes, closing with gains of 2.63 percent and 2.09%, respectively. The Nifty Auto index was the leading sectoral loser, down 1.28 percent, led by MRF, Mahindra & Mahindra, and TVS Motor Company.
Market breadth remained strong, with 1,835 out of 3,128 traded stocks on the NSE closing in the green and 1,210 ending in the red. Meanwhile, 83 stocks were unchanged.
The market capitalisation of NSE-listed stocks was $5.14 trillion.
