Stock Market Highlights today, Tuesday, July 29, 2025: The benchmark Indian equity indices closed Tuesday’s trading session in positive territory, boosted by cross-sector buying. The BSE Sensex ended at 81,337.95, up 446.93 points or 0.55 over the previous closing. Similarly, the NSE Nifty50 closed up 140.20 points, or 0.57 percent, at 24,821.10.
20 of the Sensex’s 30 member equities closed in the green, headed by Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, Asian Paints, Tata Motors, and Adani Ports, which all rose by up to 2.21 percent.
Market breadth was strong, with 2,492 out of 4,154 traded equities on the BSE closing higher, 1,501 down, and 161 unchanged.
Gains were also witnessed in the broader markets, with the Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap100 indices closing up 0.81 percent and 1.03 percent, respectively.
All sectoral indices closed in the green on Tuesday, with substantial increases in metals, pharmaceuticals, real estate, oil and gas, and healthcare sectors. The India VIX, which measures market volatility, closed 4.45% lower, at 11.53 points.
