Stock Market Highlights, Wednesday, April 2, 2025: Prior to US President Donald Trump’s reciprocal declaration on Wednesday, benchmark Indian equity indices ended the day in favorable territory. The 30-share Sensex ended the day at 76,617.44, up 592.93 points, or 0.78 percent. The index fluctuated between 76,680.35 and 76,064.94.
With gains of up to 4.75 percent, Zomato, Titan, IndusInd Bank, Maruti Suzuki India, and Tech Mahindra led the way as 21 of the 30 stocks that make up the Sensex ended the day higher. Among the leading laggards of the Sensex member stocks, Ultratech Cement, Nestle India, Bajaj Finance, Power Grid Corporation, and Bajaj Finserv had their closing prices drop by as much as 1.36 percent.
Similar to the Sensex, the NSE Nifty50 ended the day at 23,332.35, up 166.65 points, or 0.72 percent. The index reached a peak of 23,350 during the day and a low of 23,158.45 during the day.
The Nifty Midcap100 index ended the day up 1.61 percent, with midcap companies leading the charge while the overall markets outperformed. The Nifty Smallcap100 index saw a 1.12% increase at the end.
All of the NSE’s sectors indices ended the day higher, but the Nifty Realty index stole the show with a 3.61 percent increase. Banks, Financial Services, and Consumer Durables came next, all of which saw increases of up to 2.51%.
