Stock Market Close Highlights today, September 30, 2025: The Indian stock benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, closed lower after a tumultuous session marked by Nifty F&O expiry and investors remaining cautious ahead of the RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting conclusion, slated for Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
At the close, the BSE Sensex was at 80,267.62, down 97.32 points or 0.12%, while the NSE Nifty was at 24,611.1, down 23.8 points or 0. 10%.
In the last eight trading sessions, the BSE Sensex has lost 2,746 points, while the NSE Nifty 50 index has lost 3.2 percent, or 813 points.
Bharti Airtel, ITC, Trent, and Bajaj Finserv were among the BSE’s biggest laggards. Adani Ports, UltraTech Cement, Tata Motors, and BEL were among the biggest winners.
In the broader market, the Nifty MidCap 100 index fell 0.01 percent, while the Nifty SmallCap rose 0.08 percent.
Nifty Media was the sector’s biggest drag, down 1.23 percent. On the other hand, Nifty PSU Bank and Metal gained more than 1%.
