Sensex today | Stock Market close highlights, Wednesday, October 29, 2025: The Indian market benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, closed higher on Wednesday, buoyed by positive global indications and optimism ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s policy announcement. Additionally, suggestions that the US President could soon finalize a trade agreement with India improved investor mood.
The BSE Sensex increased 368.97 points, or 0.44 percent, to close at 84,977.13, while the NSE Nifty50 settled at 26,053.9, up 117.7 points, or 0.45%.
In the broader market, the NSE Midcap 100 index jumped 0.64%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index increased 0.43%.
Except for the Nifty Auto, all other sectoral indexes closed in the red. Nifty Oil & Gas was the biggest gainer, up 2.12%, followed by Energy, Metal, Media, Bank, Financial Services, IT, Pharma, FMCG, and Consumer Durables.
Among Sensex constituents, the top gainers were NTPC, PowerGrid, Adani Ports, HCL Tech, and Tata Steel. Bharat Electronics, Eternal, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, and Bajaj Finance were the top laggards.
