Stock Market Highlights on Monday, March 9, 2026: The Indian benchmark equity indices finished off the day’s low as Brent crude oil prices fell amid the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
The Nifty50 closed 1.73 percent or 422.40 points lower at 24,028.05, while the Sensex closed 1.71 percent or 1,352.74 points lower at 77,566.16.
From its low of 23,868.05, the Nifty50 regained 160 points. Similarly, the Sensex fell 1,142.16 points off its day-low of 76,424.55.
The Nifty50 fell more than 10% from its record high of 26,373, set on January 5, indicating its entry into the technical correction zone. Read more.
Brent crude futures were trading 12.59 per cent higher at $104.35 per barrel, as against the day’s high of $120 per barrel.
Sector-wise, the Nifty PSU Bank ended 3.97 per cent down to become the worst performing sectoral index. Meanwhile, the Nifty IT ended 0.08 per cent higher at 30,162.05.
