Stock market close highlights on Friday, September 5, 2025: Despite a turbulent trading session, the Indian benchmarks Sensex and Nifty finished virtually unchanged on Friday.
Following an initial gain, the BSE Sensex fell to an intraday low of 80,321.19 before closing 7.25 points, or 0.01 percent, lower at 80,710.76, ending a two-day gaining streak.
In contrast, the Nifty50 rose for the third time in a row, finishing 6.70 points, or 0.03 percent, higher at 24,641.
On the BSE, M&M, Maruti Suzuki, and Reliance Industries were the top gainers, while ITC, HCL Technologies, and TCS were major losers.
Similarly, on the NSE, Eicher Motors, Shriram Finance, and M&M were the top gainers, while ITC, Cipla, and HCL Technologies were among the worst losses.
Broader indices rose. The Nifty Midcap 100 index concluded 0.20 percent higher, while the Nifty SmallCap 100 index settled 0.19 percent higher.
Sectorally, the Nifty Auto gained the most, up 1.25 percent, followed by Metal (up 0.68%) and Media (up 0.59%).
Nifty IT was the biggest loss, down 1.44 percent, followed by FMCG (1.42 percent) and Realty (1.16 percent).
