Stock market close highlights, Tuesday, July 1, 2025: Following a subdued session, Indian equity markets settled on a flat note with a positive bias on Tuesday amid cautious optimism in Asian markets. Investors are eagerly monitoring trade negotiations with the United States ahead of President Donald Trump’s tariff deadline on July 9.
After reaching an intraday high of 83,874.29, the BSE Sensex closed at 83,697.29, up 90.83 points or 0.11 percent. The NSE Nifty50 gained 24.75 points, or 0.1%, to close at 25,541.8.
In the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap100 index remained unchanged, while the Nifty Smallcap100 index fell 0.10 percent.
On the sectoral front, Nifty PSU Bank, Metal, Oil & Gas, Consumer Durables, Healthcare, and Pharma all closed in the green. However, Nifty Auto, IT, Energy, FMCG, Media, and Realty were the laggards.
Market breadth was uneven, with 1,491 out of 3,020 equities finishing higher, 1,452 down, and 77 unchanged on the NSE. 96 stocks made 52-week highs, while 24 reached 52-week lows. The number of stocks that reached the upper circuit increased to 119, while 43 fell below the lower circuit limitations.
The market capitalization of all listed businesses on the NSE was ₹5.36 trillion.
Meanwhile, the India VIX, which measures market volatility, closed down 2.01 percent at 12.5 points.
