Stock market closing highlights today, September 17, 2025: The Indian equity market closed higher on Wednesday, anticipating an earlier-than-expected India-US trade agreement.
The BSE Sensex ended at 82,693.71, up 313.02 points, or 0.38 percent. Similarly, the NSE Nifty50 closed at 25,330.25, up 91.15 points, or 0.36 percent.
SBI, Bharat Electronics (BEL), Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Trent were among the biggest gainers on the BSE. Titan, ITC, Bajaj Finserv, and Tata Steel were among the biggest laggards.
In the broader market, the BSE MidCap gained 0.08 percent, while the SmallCap increased 0.68 percent.
On the sectoral front, the Nifty PSU Bank index closed up 2.61 percent, while the Nifty IT closed up 0.65 percent. In contrast, the Nifty Metal finished 0.5% lower.
