Stock Market Highlights, Wednesday, February 12, 2025: The benchmark Indian market indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 closed Wednesday’s turbulent session in the red. The BSE Sensex finished at 76,171.08, down 122.52 points, or 0.16 percent, from its previous level. Today, the 30-share index traded between 76,459.72 and 75,388.39.
The NSE Nifty50 closed down 26.55 points, or 0.12%, at 23,045.25. The index reached an intraday high of 23,144.70, while the day’s low was 22,798.35.
Bajaj FinServ, SBI Life, Tata Steel, HDFC Life, and Sriram Finance were among the top gainers on the Nifty50, which finished with gains of up to 2.72%. Meanwhile, the leading laggards among Nifty50 constituent stocks were Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors, Bharat Electronics, IndusInd Bank, and Power Grid Corporation of India with losses extending up to 3.20 per cent. Notably, index heavyweight Reliance Industries settled down 1.44 per cent.
Among the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap100 indices both lost 0.26 percent.
Sectoral indexes on the NSE finished mixed, with banking, financial services, and metal indices rising by up to 0.84 percent. The Nifty Realty index was the biggest laggard, finishing down 2.74 percent. Among others, the Nifty IT, Auto, FMCG, Pharma, and Healthcare indices fell by up to 1.14 percent.
