Stock Market Highlights on Friday, March 13, 2026: The Indian equities benchmark indices closed substantially lower as the ongoing US-Iran confrontation exacerbated the gas supply shortage.
The Nifty50 closed 2.06%, or 488.05 points, lower at 23,151.10, while the Sensex closed 1.93 percent, or 1,460.50 points lower, at 74,563.92.
The Nifty India Volatility Index rose 6.32 percent to 22.88 on Friday. It closed 5.23 percent higher at 22.65.
The market capitalization of BSE-listed corporations fell by ₹9.5 trillion to ₹430.19 trillion, from ₹439.72 trillion at Thursday’s closing.
Broader markets declined along with the main indices. The Nifty MidCap and Nifty SmallCap indices finished 2.62% and 2.52% lower, respectively.
The Nifty Metal plummeted 5%, becoming the worst-hit sectoral index. The Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Media both underperformed.
