Share Market Highights: Sensex falls 518 pts, Nifty ends below 18,200

Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty both closed in the red, with heavyweights such as ITC, Reliance Industries, the HDFC twins, TCS, and Tech Mahindra weighing down the indices. The markets were down for the third day in a row. The BSE Sensex closed at 61,144, a loss of 518 points, while the NSE Nifty 50 closed at 18,153, a loss of 153 points. The India VIX ended the day at 14.80, up 2.8 points. Except for Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Media, all of Nifty’s sectoral indices finished in the red. The indices were dragged down by increased concerns about US Fed monetary policy tightening and rate hikes, as well as the rising dollar and COVID-related Chinese lockdowns.
