Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: The benchmark equity indices closed in negative territory. The NSE Nifty 50 closed 167.70 points or 0.76% lower to settle at 22,055.05, while the BSE Sensex lost 434.31 points or 0.59% to settle at 72,623.09. The broader indices closed in the red, with largecap, midcap, and smallcap stocks losing. Bank Nifty index shed 74.50 points or 0.16% to settle at 47,019.70.
Tata Steel, SBI, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, and Tata Consumer Products were the top gainers in the Nifty 50. While BPCL, Coal India, Power Grid Corporation, NTPC, and Wipro were the major laggards in the Nifty 50 on February 21.
On Wednesday morning, shares in the Asia-Pacific region are experiencing mixed trading. The Asia Dow is down by 0.54%, and Japan’s Nikkei 225 is in the red, showing a 0.26% decrease. Conversely, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index concluded higher by 0.57%, while the benchmark Chinese index Shanghai Composite closed with a 0.42% gain.
As of Wednesday morning, WTI crude prices are trading at $77.19, reflecting a 0.20% increase, while Brent crude prices are at $82.46, showing a 0.14% uptick.
The US Dollar Index (DXY), gauging the dollar’s value against a basket of six foreign currencies, saw a marginal decline of 0.03%, trading at 104.05.
Big tech pulled the U.S. stock market away from its record highs, as Wall Street eagerly awaits Nvidia Corp.’s earnings on Wednesday to confirm whether it can meet the high expectations set by the artificial intelligence boom, according to Bloomberg. The Nasdaq Composite, heavily influenced by tech stocks, closed down 167.15 points or 1.06% at 15,608.50. The S&P 500 experienced a dip of 28 points or 0.56%, closing at 4,977.57, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average concluded with a decrease of 66.66 points or 0.17% at 38,561.33.
