Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: On Monday, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed in the green. After trading in a narrow range, the Nifty 50 closed just under 18,600 points lower at 18,598.5, while the Sensex gained 240 points to 62,787. The Bank Nifty gained more than 160 points to settle above 44,100. In larger markets, the Nifty Midcap 100, which hit a new lifetime high last week, finished flat, up 0.14%, while the NSE Smallcap 100 gained 0.36%. Sectorally, the Nifty Auto gained 1.26%, while the Nifty IT lost 0.3%. The Nifty PSU Bank index fell 0.43%, while Nifty Pharma gained 0.26% and Nifty Media gained 0.88%.
Asian Markets
Shares in the Asia-Pacific region were trading primarily in the green. China’s Shanghai Composite advanced 0.61% in trade, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 jumped 1.75%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gained 0.30% while South Korea’s Kospi added 0.36%. The Taiwan Weighted index edged up 0.28%.
US stocks on Friday
The tech-heavy Nasdaq index surged to a 13-month intraday high and posted its sixth-straight week of gains that marked its best winning streak since January 2020 on Friday. The S&P 500 advanced 1.45%, Nasdaq gained 1.07%, while Dow Jones Industrial Average added 2.12%.
