Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex finished in the red on Thursday, wiping off all morning gains. The NSE index fell more than 1% or 200 points after reaching an intraday high of 19,584.45. The Sensex finished 180 points lower at 65,252.34. While the Nifty Midcap 100 outperformed the broader markets, the Nifty Smallcap fell 0.35%. Sectorally, the indices ended mixed after opening in the green. Nifty IT rose 0.6% on positive Nvidia earnings, while Bank Nifty remained unchanged. Metals, pharmaceuticals, and PSU banking equities all finished lower, but FMCG and media firms performed better.
Oil prices slipped in early Asian trade on Thursday as weak manufacturing data in major economies outweighed optimism around a larger-than-expected drop in U.S. crude stocks.
U.S. stocks ended sharply higher on Wednesday as shares of Nvidia gained ahead of quarterly results from the company whose chips are widely used for artificial intelligence (AI) computing, according to Reuters. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.5%, the S&P 500 increased by 1.1%, and the Nasdaq Composite surged 1.6%.
