Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: The main equity indices finished the trading day on Wednesday in positive position. The NSE Nifty 50 increased 28.45 points, or 0.14%, to 19,811.85, while the BSE Sensex increased 92.47 points, or 0.14%, to 66,023.24. Midcap equities led the advances in the broader indices, while smallcap stocks fell. The Bank Nifty index fell 239.55 points, or 0.55%, to 43,449.60. Among the other sectors indexes, IT, Pharma, Auto, and FMCG companies led the gains, while Banking, Metal, Media, and Realty stocks fell. The top gainers on the NSE Nifty 50 were BPCL, Cipla, Bajaj Auto, Infosys, and NTPC, while the laggards were IndusInd Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Adani Ports, Hindalco, and Adani Enterprises. The volatility index (India Vix) ended down 3%.
US stocks retreated on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq snapping five-session winning streaks as retailers declined after some disappointing outlooks and as technology shares fell, reported Reuters. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite dropped 84.55 points or 0.59% at 14,199.98. The S&P 500 slipped 9.19 points or 0.20% at 4,538.19 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 62.75 points or 0.18% to 35,088.29.
