Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: On Thursday, the major equity indices finished in the red. The NSE Nifty 50 slid 46.40 points, or 0.24%, to 19,624.70, while the BSE Sensex fell up to 247.78 points to 65,629.24. Except for Smallcap stocks, the wider indices finished mostly in the negative. The Bank Nifty index fell 134 points, or 0.31%, to 43,754.50. Metal, Financial Services, Pharma, Realty, and Private Bank companies finished in the negative, while Auto, FMCG, Media, and Consumer Durables gained.Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma, NTPC, and UPL were the top losers on the NSE Nifty 50, while Bajaj Auto, LTIMindtree, Hero MotoCorp, UltraTech Cement and Nestle India were the top gainers. The volatility index (India VIX) settled down 1%.
US Dollar Index (DXY) which measures the value of the dollar against a basket of six foreign currencies traded down 0.04% at 106.53.
Wall Street’s major indexes ended lower on Wednesday. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite tanked 219.45 points, or 1.62%, to 13,314.30. The S&P 500 tumbled 58.6 points, or 1.34%, at 4,314.60, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 332.57 points, or 0.98%, to 33,665.08.
