Stock Market Highlights, Friday, December 27, 2024: The major equity indices finished the week’s last trading session in positive territory. The 30-share Sensex rose 226 points, or 0.29 percent, to close at 78,699.07. Today, the index traded between 79,043.15 and 78,598.55.
NSE Nifty50 closed at 23,813.40, up 63 points or 0.27 percent. The Nifty50 had a high of 23,938.85, while the low was 23,800.60.
29 of the 50 Nifty50 constituent stocks closed in the green, with gains of up to 2.51 percent led by Dr. Reddy’s Labs, Mahindra & Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, Eicher Motors, and Wipro.
Hindalco, Coal India, SBI, ONGC, and Tata Steel were among the 21 stocks that finished in the red with losses extending up to 1.81 per cent.
Sectoral markets closed on a mixed note on Friday. Nifty Pharma outperformed the rest, increasing 1.30 percent, followed by Nifty Auto, up 0.97 percent, and Nifty Healthcare, up 0.80 percent.
Meanwhile, Nifty Metal, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Realty, and Nifty Oil and Gas, among others, closed in negative territory.
