Stock Market Hightlights, Stock Market Today, March 6, 2025: The benchmark equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 rose for the second day in a row on Thursday, finishing in positive territory. After reaching a high of 74,390.80, the 30-share Sensex closed at 74,340.09, up 609.86 points (0.83 percent) from the previous close.
Similarly, the NSE Nifty50 closed at 22,544.70, up 207.40 points or 0.93%. On Thursday, the index traded between 22.556.45 and 22.245.85.
The day favored the bulls, with 38 of the Nifty50’s 50 member stocks closing in the green, headed by Asian Paints, Coal India, BPCL, Hindalco, and Reliance Industries, which gained up to 4.75 percent. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Bharat Electronics, Trent, Britannia, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were among the top laggards, falling by up to 2.35 percent.
Broader indexes echoed the benchmarks, with small-cap stocks leading the charge, with the Nifty Smallcap100 index rising 1.32 percent. The Nifty Midcap100 index also closed in positive position, up 0.37 percent.
All sectoral indices, with the exception of the Nifty Realty index, closed higher. The Nifty Oil & Gas and Metal indices led the advances, closing up more than 2% each. This was followed by the Nifty Healthcare, Pharma, and FMCG indices, which all closed up more than 1%. Notably, the Nifty Realty index declined by 0.17 percent.
