Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: The benchmark equity indices ended Wednesday’s trading session in the negative territory. The BSE Sensex fell 535.88 points, or 0.75%, to 71,356.60, while the NSE Nifty 50 fell 148.45 points, or 0.69%, to close at 21,517.35. The larger indices finished the day down, with midcap and smallcap equities leading the decline. The Bank Nifty index finished lower, closing at 47,704.95.25, down 56.70 points, or 0.12%. PSU banks and real estate equities did better than metal and IT stocks did. On the NSE Nifty 50, the biggest gainers were Bajaj Auto, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and SEZ, Cipla, and ITC; the laggards were Hindalco Industries, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, LTI Mindtree, and Tech Mahindra. The Indian VIX, or Volatility Index, ended the day 3.30 percent lower.

Shares in the Asia-Pacific region are trading mostly in negative territory on Wednesday morning. The Asia Dow is trading down by 0.19%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 is red, down by 0.22%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index is trading down by 1.52% and the benchmark Chinese index Shanghai Composite is trading lower by 0.43%.
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the value of the dollar against a basket of six foreign currencies, traded down by 0.03% at 102.17.
U.S. stocks and treasuries dropped as traders trimmed their bets on interest rate cuts, reported Bloomberg. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite dipped 299.22 points or 1.99% at 15,026.49. The S&P 500 dropped by 41.19 points or 0.86% at 4,728.64, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended higher by 0.25%.
