Share Market Highlights: Sensex at 547 pts higher, Nifty ends at 16,641

Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: On Wednesday, the Dalal Street headline indices ended their losing streak and closed with gains. The S&P BSE Sensex rose 547 points, or 0.99 %, to 55,816 while the NSE Nifty 50 index rose 157 points, or 0.96 %, to 16,641.

The Bank Nifty gained 1.03 % to close the day at 36,783. After rising earlier in the day, the Indi VIX closed 0.22 % lower but still above 18 levels.

Sun Pharma was the best performing Sensex stock at the close, up 3.3 %, followed by State Bank of India and Larsen & Toubro. Bharti Airtel fell 1.25 %, and was followed by Kotak Mahindra Bank and NTPC.
