Stock Market Hightlights, Tuesday, January 28, 2025: On Tuesday, the key equity indices, the NSE Nifty50 and the BSE Sensex, both ended the day in positive territory. The 30-share Sensex closed at 75,901.41, up 535.24 points, or 0.71 percent. Today, the index fluctuated between 76,512.96 and 75,622.88.
In a similar vein, the NSE Nifty50 ended the day higher at 22,957.25, up 128.10 points, or 0.56%. The day’s high for the Nifty50 was 23,137.95, and the day’s low was 22,857.65.
With gains of up to 4.32%, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, Shriram Finance, Bajaj FinServ, and HDFC Bank led the way as 28 of the 50 companies that make up the Nifty50 ended the day in the green. Conversely, Grasim, Britannia Industries, Sun Pharma, Hindalco, and Bharat Electronics were among the 22 constituent stocks of Nifty50 that ended in red with losses extending up to 4.24 per cent.
The Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices saw declines of 0.51% and 1.81 percent, respectively, among the larger markets.
With the Nifty Bank, PSB, and private bank indices all finishing higher by more than 1%, banking stocks took center stage in the sectoral markets. Among other things, the Nifty Realty index closed the day up more than 2%, while the Nifty Financial Services and Auto indices both saw increases of more than 1%.
The sectoral indices on the NSE that ended in red, with losses reaching 2.33 percent, included Nifty FMCG, IT, Pharma, Healthcare, and Consumer Durables.
