Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: Indices of domestic stock markets the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 surged ahead in the first half of trading but failed to hold their gains and closed in the red. S&P The BSE Sensex fell 100.42 points, or 0.19 percent, to 53,134, while the NSE Nifty 50 index fell 24.5 points, or 0.15 percent, to 15,810. Bank Nifty also lost intraday gains, finishing at 33,815, down 0.37 percent. The India VIX fell 0.86 percent to close at 20.97. The worst performing Sensex stock was ITC, which fell 1.78 percent, and was followed by Axis Bank, M&M, Maruti Suzuki India, and IndusInd Bank. Power Grid, on the other hand, was the top gainer, rising 1.54 percent. Other gainer included Bajaj Finserv, Hindustan Unilever, and Sun Pharma.
