Share Market Highlights, Friday, December 13, 2024: The benchmark equity indices completed the week’s final trading day in favorable territory. After reducing early losses, the 30-share Sensex finished at 82,133.12, up 843.16 points, or 1.04%, from the previous close. On Friday, the index traded between 82,192.61 and 80,082.82.
The NSE Nifty50 closed up 219.60 points, or 0.89 percent, at 24,768.30. The index had a day low of 24,180.80 and a high of 24,792.30.
Friday finished in favour of the bulls, with 41 out of 50 member stocks closing in the green, headed by Bharti Airtel, ITC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hindustan Unilever, and UltraTech Cement, which gained up to 4.44 percent. Similarly, Shriram Finance, Tata Steel, Hindalco, IndusInd Bank, and JSW Steel were among the 9 stocks that ended lower, with losses extending up to 2.44 per cent.
The fear index, India VIX, which measures market volatility, fell 1.04 percent to 13.05.
Among the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap110 and Nifty Smallcap100 indices fell 0.05 percent and 0.30 percent, respectively.
Sectoral indices finished mixed on Friday, with Nifty FMCG, IT, Consumer Durables, and Financials leading the way with gains of up to 1.29 percent. On the other hand, the Nifty Media, Metal, Pharma, PSU Bank, Realty, and Healthcare indices closed in the red on Friday.
