Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices Highlights: On monthly F&O expiry, benchmark indices extended gains to end higher for the third straight session. The BSE Sensex rose 800 points to a new record high of 62412 before falling back to close below the 62300 level. The Nifty 50 index reached 14500 intraday before closing at 18484. During the session, the NSE Nifty Bank index reached a new all-time high of 43070. Broader markets followed suit, with the Nifty SmallCap 100 and Nifty MidCap 100 both rising by 0.4%. Except for Nifty Consumer Durables, all sectors ended on a positive note, with the Nifty Media, Nifty Auto, and Nifty PSU Bank indices leading the charge.
Nifty 50 top gainers, losers
Apollo Hospitals, HDFC Life, BPCL, Infosys and Tata Consumer Products were the biggest gainers of the day on the NSE Nifty 50 index, with Apollo Hospitals and HDFC Life up 4.5%. Cipla, Coal India, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Bank and Tata Motors were the day’s losers; Cipla ended down 0.98%.
Top gainers, losers this F&O series
Bandhan Bank, Tata Chem, Aurobindo Pharma were the laggards, while Amara Raja, Adani Enterprises, GSPL and Punjab National Bank were the top gainers this F&O series. Nifty Metal was the top sectoral gainer, up over 8%, and Nifty Pharma index was the worst performing sector this series, down 2.5%.
