Stock Market Highlights, Wednesday, December 11, 2024: The benchmark equity indices, the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty50, closed on a positive note on Wednesday. The 30-share Sensex closed at 81,526.14, up 16.09 points, or 0.02 percent. Today, the index traded between 81,742.37 and 81,383.42.
The NSE Nifty50, on the other hand, closed up 31.75 points, or 0.13 percent, at 24,641.80. The Nifty50 reached a high of 24,691.75, while the low was 24,583.85.
Trent, Bajaj Finance, Britannia, Shriram Finance, and Hero MotorCorp led the way with gains of up to 2.50%. However, JSW Steel, Adani Ports, NTPC, State Bank of India, and Axis Bank were among the 23 equities that closed lower, with a fall of up to 1.48 per cent. IndusInd Bank was notably the only stock among the Nifty constituents that ended on a flat note on Monday.
In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap100 indices rose by 0.27 percent and 0.38 percent, respectively.
The majority of sectoral indices finished in the green, with the exception of banks and media. The top sectoral indices were Nifty Auto, FMCG, IT, and Consumer Durables.
Notably, Sanjay Malhotra took office as the 26th governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a three-year term, following Shaktikanta Das, who had served as governor for six years.
