On Thursday, a day of weekly F&O expiry, the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 ended in the red for the second day in a row. The BSE Sensex fell 412 points, or 0.7%, to end at 59,934, while the NSE Nifty 50 fell 126 points, or 0.7%, to 17,877.40. Index heavyweights including Infosys, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, and Kotak Mahindra Bank, among others, contributed significantly to the index’s loss. Broader markets performed better than equity frontrunners. The S&P BSE MidCap index rose 82 points to 26,307, while the S&P BSE Smallcap index rose 19 points to 29,911.
