On Friday, Indian benchmark indices ended higher for the 6th day in a row, with the Nifty exceeding 16700 and the Sensex exceeding 56,000.
The Sensex closed up 390.28 points, or 0.70 percent, at 56,072.23, while the Nifty closed up 114.20 points, or 0.69 percent, at 16,719.50. The Nifty Bank index gained 1.6 percent, followed by the Nifty PSU Bank index. The Nifty IT dropped 0.6 percent.
The BSE MidCap index fell 0.2 percent, while the BSE SmallCap index increased 0.2 percent. In early trades on Monday, markets will first react to the results of heavyweights such as Reliance, ICICI Bank, Infosys, and Kotak Bank.
Analysts advise maintaining a positive but cautious stance and concentrating more on identifying stocks amid rotational buying.
