Share Market Updates: The benchmark equity indices on the BSE and NSE continued their upward trend for the third consecutive session, ending nearly 1% higher on Monday, led by gains in information technology (IT) and metal stocks.
The S&P BSE Sensex finished at 53,161.28, up 433.30 points (0.82 percent), while the Nifty 50 closed at 15,832.05, up 132.80 points (0.85 per cent). Both indices opened more than 1% higher and remained positive throughout the day, with the BSE benchmark reaching an intraday high of 53,509.50 and the broader Nifty touching 15,927.45.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T), HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, Infosys, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, and others are among the Sensex pack. Ultratech Cement were the top gainers on Monday. On the other hand, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Reliance Industries (RIL) and Titan Company ended marginally lower.
Individual stocks fell 6.40 percent to Rs 65.85 per share on the BSE as the company’s decision to acquire quick commerce platform Blinkit failed to boost investor sentiment.
All sectoral indices finished in the green. The Nifty IT index increased by 2.05 percent, the Nifty Metal index increased by 1.52 percent, and the Nifty Auto index increased by 0.89 percent.
The S&P BSE MidCap index closed at 21,991.81, up 188.65 points (0.87 percent), while the S&P BSE SmallCap index closed at 24,905.94, up 384.01 points (0.87 percent) (1.57 per cent). The volatility index, or India VIX, rose 2.21 percent to 21.01 on the NSE.
