Today’s Stock Market News, Sensex, and Nifty Share Price: The benchmark equity indices on the BSE and NSE rose around 1.3 % on Monday, boosted by gains in heavyweights HDFC twins, Infosys, and Reliance Industries (RIL).
The S&P BSE Sensex advanced 786.74 points (1.31 percent) to 60,746.59, while the Nifty 50 advanced 225.40 points (1.27 percent) to 18,012.20. The indices opened more than 0.8% higher earlier in the day and extended gains as the session progressed, with the Sensex reclaiming the 60,000 mark and reaching an intraday high of 60,786.70 and the broader Nifty reclaiming the 18,000 mark and reaching 18,022.80.
The top gainers on the Sensex pack on Monday were UltraTech Cement, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, HDFC Bank, the Bajaj twins – Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance, and Bharti Airtel. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, IndusInd Bank, and NTPC, on the other hand, were the top laggards.
On Monday, all NSE sectoral indices finished higher. Nifty Consumer Durables increased 1.48 percent, while Nifty Auto and Nifty IT both increased 1.45 percent.
In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap rose 311.68 points (1.24%) to 25,359.02, while the S&P BSE SmallCap rose 129.02 points (0.45%) to 28,817.59.
