Stock Market Highlights, Stock Market Today, Tuesday, February 25, 2025: The benchmark Indian equities indices closed mixed on Tuesday. The 30-share Sensex stopped its five-day losing streak by rising 147.71 points, or 0.20 percent, to conclude at 74,602.12. Notably, the BSE Sensex had dropped 1,542 points over the previous five trading sessions.
The NSE Nifty50, on the other hand, closed at 22,547.55, down only 5.80 points, or 0.03 percent. On Tuesday, the Nifty50 peaked at 22,625.30 and fell to 22,516.45.
On the NSE, 31 of the Nifty50’s 50 component stocks closed lower, led by Hindalco, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Trent, Hero MotoCorp, and Sun Pharma, which lost up to 3.10 percent. Similarly, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Nestlé India, and Titan were among the 19 stocks that settled higher, with gains of up to 2.32 per cent.
Among the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices fell 0.62 percent and 0.44 percent, respectively.
Sectoral indexes on the NSE Nifty50 ended on a mixed note, with the Nifty Auto, FMCG, Select Financial Services, Media, and Consumer Durables indices gaining up to 0.84 percent. On the other hand, the Nifty Metal, PSU Bank, IT, Realty, and Oil & Gas indices all finished lower, with losses of up to 1.54%.
Notably, the Indian financial markets will be closed tomorrow, February 26, 2025, in observance of Maha Shivaratri.
