Stock Market Highlights, Stock Market Today, March 7, 2025: Benchmark Indian equity indices gave up their early gains and closed flat on Friday. The BSE Sensex closed at 74,332.58, down just 7.51 points, or 0.01 percent. The 30-share Sensex traded between 74,586.43 and 74,038.03 today.
In contrast, the NSE Nifty50 finished at 22,552.50, up 7.80 points or 0.03 percent. On Friday, the Nifty50 reached a day high of 22,633.80 and fell to an intraday low of 22,464.75.
Reliance Industries was the leading gainer among Nifty50 component equities, closing up 3.04 percent. Tata Motors, Bharat Electronics, Bajaj Auto, and Hindalco all posted rises of up to 1.23 percent. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank, Shriram Finance, NTPC, BPCL, and Infosys were among the top laggards of the Nifty50 constituent stock, which finished down 3.78 percent. Notably, e-retail/commerce player Zomato closed down 3.70 percent.
Among the broader markets, the Nifty Smallcap100 index rose 0.67 percent, while the Nifty Midcap100 index fell 0.32%. Sectoral indexes on the NSE finished mixed, with the Nifty Auto, PSU Bank, Medtal, Media, and Oil & Gas indices all rising by up to 1.83 percent. Among others, the Nifty Consumer Durables and Realty indices fell by more than 1%. This was followed by the Nifty IT, Bank Nifty, Financial Services, Private Bank, and Healthcare indices, which declined up to 0.85%.
