Stock Market Highlights, Monday, March 24, 2025: Benchmark Indian equity indices rose for the sixth straight day, ending with gains of more than 1% apiece. The 30-share Sensex surged 1,078.87 points, or 1.40 percent, to 77,984.38. The index reached an intra-day high of 78,107.23 on Monday.
The Nifty50 finished at 23,658.35, up 307.95 points or 1.32 percent, mirroring the Sensex. The index achieved an intra-day high of 23,708.75, and a low of 23,433.50. The market capitalization of listed businesses on the NSE increased to $4.79 trillion (₹410.79 lakh crore).
Monday finished in favor of the bulls, as 24 of the 30 constituent stocks of the BSE Sensex settled higher, headed by NTPC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), Tech Mahindra, and Power Grid Corp, which gained up to 4.63 percent. Nestle India, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Zomato, IndusInd Bank, and Titan were the six Sensex constituent stocks that closed down by much to 2.73 percent.
The Nifty Midcap100 and Smallcap100 indices settled higher by more than 1% each.
Banking shares stole the show among sectoral indices, with PSU banks leading the charge, with the Nifty PSU Bank index closing up 3.18 percent. Bank Nifty and the Nifty Private Bank index likewise closed with gains of more than 2% each.
Apart from the Nifty Media index, all sectoral indexes on the NSE settled with gains of up to 2%.
