Stock market close highlights today, Tuesday, September 23, 2025: The Indian financial markets produced a strong recovery in the last hours of the session today, finishing Tuesday’s session on a slightly negative note.
The BSE Sensex, which reached a low of 81,777 during the day, closed at 82,102.10, down 57.87 points or 0.07 percent.
On the NSE, the Nifty50 fell to a low of 25,085 before recovering to finish at 25,169.50, down 32.85 points, or 0.13 percent.
Trent, Tech Mahindra, SBI Life, Ultratech Cement, HUL, HDFC Life, Nestle, Asian Paints, Cipla, Grasim, Eternal, and Hero MotoCorp were the Nifty index’s worst losers today, falling up to 2.5%.
The Nifty MidCap 100 index fell 0.3%, while the Nifty SmallCap 250 index dropped 0.5%.
Among sectors, the Nifty FMCG index was the biggest laggard, losing more than 1%, followed by the Nifty Realty and Nifty IT indexes.
On the contrary, both the Nifty PSU Bank and the Nifty Metal index increased by more than 1%.
