Stock Market Highlights, Thursday, February 6, 2025: The benchmark equity indices, the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty50, closed Thursday’s session in negative territory as investors awaited the RBI MPC decision, which is set for tomorrow, Friday, February 7, 2025.
The BSE Sensex fell 213.12 points, or 0.27 percent, to close at 78,058.16. On the day, the index fluctuated between 78,551.66 and 77,843.99. The NSE Nifty50, like the Sensex, ended lower by 92.95 points, or 0.39 percent, at 23,603.35.
The Nifty50 reached a high of 23,773.55, and a low of 23,556.25.
Trent, Bharat Electronics, Bharti Airtel, ONGC, and Titan, which plummeted up to 8.39 percent, were among the 30 Nifty50 component stocks that closed in the red. Cipla, Adani Ports, Infosys and Dr. Reddy’s Labs were among the constituent stocks of Nifty50 that managed to settle in the green with gains of up to 2.51 per cent.
Broader markets echoed benchmarks, with the Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap100 falling 1.26 percent and 0.30 percent, respectively. On Thursday, the NSE’s sectoral indices settled mixed.
The Nifty Auto, FMCG, Consumer Durables, Realty, and Financial Services indices all fell by up to 2.19 percent. The Nifty Bank, IT, Pharma, Private Bank, and Healthcare indices achieved increases of up to 0.64 percent.
