Bears continued to dominate Dalal Street on Tuesday, as headline indices fell for the third day in a row. The S&P BSE Sensex fell 153 points, or 0.29 percent, to 52,693, while the NSE Nifty 50 fell 43 points, or 0.27 percent, to 15,732.
Throughout the day, the Sensex and Nifty were both volatile. The worst-performing Sensex stock was Bajaj Auto, which fell 4.71 percent, followed by IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, and Reliance Industries. Gainers included NTPC, Ultratech Cement, Bharti Airtel, and M&M. Bank Nifty fell 94 points to close at 33,311 while the India VIX fell 2.15 percent and lost 22 levels.
