Stock Market Highlights, Tuesday, January 14, 2025: Tuesday saw the benchmark equity indices, the NSE Nifty50 and the BSE Sensex, end their four-day losing streak and close higher. The 30-share Sensex ended the day at 76,499.63, up 169.62 points, or 0.22 percent. Today, the index fluctuated between 76,835.61 and 76,335.75.
The NSE Nifty50 ended the day higher at 23,176.05, up 90.10 points, or 0.39 percent. The day’s high for the Nifty50 was 23,264.95, and the day’s low was 23,134.15.
With gains of up to 7.05% led by Adani Enterprises, Shriram Finance, Hindalco, Adani Ports, and NTPC, 34 of the 50 stocks that make up the Nifty50 closed the day in the green. On the other hand, the 16 constituent stocks that included HCL Tech, Hindustan Unilever, Apollo Hospitals, Titan, and Infosys ended in the red, with losses extending up to 8.52 per cent.
Adani group shares, which closed Tuesday’s trading session up to 20%, were of particular interest. These shares include Adani Power, Adani Green Energy, Adani Energy Solutions, Adani Total Gas, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, ACC, and Ambuja Cements.
The Nifty Smallcap100 and Nifty Midcap100 saw increases of 1.98 and 2.45 percent, respectively, at the close of the day among the larger markets.
All of the NSE’s sectoral indices ended Tuesday in positive territory, with the exception of the Nifty IT and FMCG. With the NIFTY PSU Bank index ending higher by 4.20 percent and the Bank Nifty and Nifty Private Bank indices ending higher by 1.43 percent and 1.14 percent, respectively, banking stocks were trading at a high level.
Among others, the Nifty Auto, Metal, Media, Financial Services, and OMCs indices ended higher by up to 3.98 per cent.
