Today’s Stock Market News | Sensex, Nifty, and Share Prices HIGHLIGHTS: On Wednesday, one day before the weekly F&O expiry, the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 ended flat with a negative bias. The BSE Sensex finished 110 points or 0.2% lower at 54,208, while the NSE Nifty 50 index fell 19 points to 16240.
The S&P BSE Sensex finished in the green, with UltraTech Cement, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), Asian Paints, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, and ITC leading the way.
On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India, Tech Mahindra, State Bank of India (SBI), Bharti Airtel, L&T, and Bajaj Finserv all closed in the red.
The India VIX, or volatility index, finished 2% lower at 22.30. Except for the Nifty FMCG, Nifty Pharma, and Nifty Healthcare indices, all sectoral indices ended in the red. The Nifty Bank index fell 0.4%, the Nifty IT index fell 0.5%, and the Nifty PSU Bank index fell 1.6%.
