The Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana was launched in Chatrapur, Ganjam, with 74 old residents given the opportunity to see Lord Jagannath.
The project, introduced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in Nabarangpur, intends to make darshan of the trinity easier and more convenient for senior citizens, economically disadvantaged devotees, and pilgrims alike.
Commerce & Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena flagged off pilgrimage buses from Chhatrapur Mini Stadium, emphasizing the State Government’s commitment to welfare schemes. “Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath is the spiritual center of the Odia community and consciousness,” Shri Jena said, highlighting the Lord’s unparalleled spiritual aura and energy.
Over 1.2 lakh old persons will benefit from the plan over the next four years, with free transit to Puri Shrimandir, lodging at Brundabati Nivas, Mahaprasad, and meals included. Senior persons between the ages of 60 and 75, as well as widows, are eligible for benefits.
Dignitaries who attended were Khalikote MLA Purna Chandra Sethi, Chatrapur MLA Krishna Chandra Nayak, and Ganjam District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan. Beneficiaries thanked the Chief Minister and the State Government for the facilities.
